There are no chips, cracks, or repairs anywhere. The wood is just fantastic! Its still a light orange-brown color and retains 98% of its original Varnish with numerous light handling marks. It also has the early non-adjustable fixed rear sight.similar to what one finds on the earliest Model 1890 Winchesters. Screw heads and sideplate screw still retain most of their original blue.this rifle wasn't used much! Barrel and magazine tube retain 95% original blue with some light freckles and closet rust. Hammer retains 60% of its original case colors while the lever colors are shadowy having hazed over to a light brown patina. Overall, this Marlin is in NRA antique Excellent condition with 95% receiver blue with a few brown freckles. We simply haven't seen a better Antique 1892 in. 22 cal we'd ever had!" Well, four years later, that still holds true for us. This is actually the second time we've had this little Marlin.the first time was several years ago and I remember thinking, "Wow, this is the best antique 1892 in.
